Goals

• Providing awareness and establishing support structures for teachers and school districts to pursue the National Board Certification process.
  
• Creating models for collaboration in which all stakeholders can support each other from awareness through celebration.
  
• Facilitating the utilization of NBCTs as teacher leaders within organizations for improved student learning.

• To establish the National Board Council of New York State as an affiliated network of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
  
• To increase the number of teachers that pursue National Board Certification.
  
• To train and network Candidate Support Providers across New York State.
  
• To create NBC support programs within each of the NYSTC regions.
  
• To provide a forum for teacher leadership training, discussion, and opportunity.
  
• To contribute to the knowledge base of teaching and provide

• One representative from each of the NYS Teacher Center Regions
  
• One NBCT from each of the seven NYS Teacher Center Regions
  
• Two representatives from NYSUT
  
• Two representatives from Higher Education Schools of Education
  
• Two chairpersons
• Two Administrators
  
• One representative from the New York State Education Department

2007

• Begin NBCNY as an affiliated network of NBPTS.
• Establish NBCNY Advisory Council

2008

• Establish NBC Regional Resource Centers within each of the 7 NYS Teacher Center Networks
• Train Candidate Support Providers (CSP) for each NYSTC Network
• Develop a wide-scale Awareness campaign
• Create regional partnerships w/businesses/Higher Ed./NYSUT
• Begin Regional Celebrations for NBCTs
• Share and create initiatives within institutions of Higher Education
• Expand teacher leadership opportunities.

2009

• Establish support groups and specialized workshops for NB Candidates in each region.
• Continue Awareness campaign across NYS.
• Continue pursuing funding options at state and regional levels.
• Use the expertise of NBCTs to influence and reform education

2010

• Provide regional CSP Training.
• Increase the number of support groups within each region
• Use the expertise of NBCTs to influence and reform education and policy.

2011

• Establish Regional NBCT Networks for Teacher Leadership and Candidate Support.
• Hold annual NBCNY Weeklong Conference focusing on Candidate Support, CSP Training, & Teacher Leadership. .
